In yet another anti-narcotics drive, Agartala GR Police seized a hefty amount of contraband items from Agartala railway station on Sunday. The contraband items which were seized are Eskuf Syrup.

The police stated that they received a crucial tip-off, on the basis of the tip-off police personnel Agartala GR Police station and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) laid a trap in Agartala railway station Platform number 2. As soon as the kamalabati express train which arrived at  Agartala railway station Platform number 2 from Bihar we saw four persons carrying four huge bagpack were coming out of the train. During the search of their bagpacks they found 345 bottles of Eskuf Syrup. The four arrested have been as Uma Shankar Singh (30), Abhishek Kumar (24), Bijendra Kumar (25) and Nikesh Kumar (19) all of them residents of Bihar.

Moreover, the estimated value of the confiscated Eskuf Syrup in the illicit market amounts to approximately Rs 2 lakh.

However, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has called on Tripura to get rid of drugs. Police are seizing crores worth of heroin, brown sugar and arresting traffickers, but the real kingpins remain out of reach, which is why the state is not moving towards a drug-free state despite so many anti-drug campaigns.
