Police Commemoration Day was observed at Manoranjan Debbarma Stadium in AD Nagar Police Lines on Monday. Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Director General of Police (DGP) Amitabh Ranjan and others were present. They also paid tribute to the brave police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. Director General of Police (DGP) Amitabh Ranjan emphasized the importance of this day, said since India’s independence, nearly 35,000 police officers have sacrificed their lives to maintain the nation’s integrity and peace. He expressed both pride and sorrow as they remember these brave individuals.Chief Secretary JK Sinha expressed heartfelt respect for the police personnel and security forces who have sacrificed their lives. He also prayed for strength for their families and the police community.India marks Police Commemoration Day on October 21 every year to remember the policemen who died in an ambush by Chinese troops at Hot Springs, Ladakh, in 1959. The day is dedicated to paying tribute to the bravery and service of police personnel who protect the nation.
