Police and BSF arrests one drug peddler
In a joint operation, on the basis of a tip-off BSF and Tripura Police arrested on drug peddler and seized 70 kilograms of cannabis (ganja) from Indira Nagar village in Kamalapur on Thursday late night.
The police stated that they received a crucial tip-off regarding drug peddler, on the basis of a tip-off a joint operation was executed by the police personnel from PR Bari police station and the Border Security Force. The police personnel from PR Bari police station and the Border Security Force raided the house Dipak Das, a resident of Indira Nagar village in Kamalapur, located within the Rajnagar block under South Tripura district. Dipak Das, a well-known figure in the illicit drug trade. During the raid BSF and police found 70kilograms of cannabis (ganja) packaged in several packets kept inside an empty water tank. Dipak Das was arrested during the raid.
Moreover, the estimated value of the confiscated cannabis (ganja) in the illicit market amounts to approximately Rs 12 lakh. The seized cannabis (ganja) was intended for smuggling purpose, police said.
Police produced Dipak Das the accused drug peddler before the Belonia court on Friday afternoon, seeking his remand under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
