Tripura police arrested four persons and seized 53 kilograms of cannabis (ganja) worth Rs 5 lakh at Ambassa Railway Station on Sunday.

 The police stated that they received a crucial tip-off regarding four persons transporting a substantial quantity of cannabis (ganja) from Agartala in the Rani Kamalavati Express train,  on the basis of the information police personnel from Ambassa police station conducted a raid in the Rani Kamalavati Express train when it reached Ambassa Railway Station.

During the raid, police officials found 53 kilograms of cannabis (ganja) packed in several packets. The cannabis (ganja) worth Rs 5 lakh was kept inside bags of the four arrested persons. 

The four arrested have been identified as Mithun Kumar, Amit Kumar, Nikhil Kumar and Bibhisan kumar. The seized cannabis (ganja) was intended for smuggling purposes beyond Tripura’s borders, police said. All the four arrested were booked under relevant sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic  Substances Act, 1985.
