Run for Tea’ held at Agartala
Aiming to promote and popularize tea produced in Tripura, the Tea Board of India jointly with the Tripura Tea Development Corporation Limited (TTDCL) on Tuesday organised ‘Run for Tea’ here at Agartala.The state industry minister Santana Chakma accompanied by the state social welfare and social education minister Tinku Roy, Chairman of TTDCL Sameer Ranjan Ghosh and others joined the run.Speaking to the reporters, Industry Minister Santana Chakma said, “Tripura will soon have its own Tea Auction Centre in the state and the foundation stone for the establishment of the centre will be laid on March 14 next.”“Tripura government is contemplating to boost the tea produced in the state and promote it globally. For further promotion and to ease selling of local tea, the state’s own auction centre will be established,” she told reporters.She further claimed that since the BJP led government took office in the state, various initiatives were undertaken to promote the state produced tea.
