A Sensitization programme on HIV/AIDS and HIV/AIDS (P&C)Act, 2017 involving media personnel was organized by Tripura State AIDS Control Society (TSACS), Health & Family Welfare Department in association with Tripura Journalist Union and Tripura Web Media Forum on Friday at Sukanta Academy.

Project Director of TSACS Dr. Samarpita Dutta, Director of ICA Bimbisar Bhattacharya, Director of FW&PM Dr. Anjan Das, Director of Health Services Prof (Dr) Sanjib Debbarma, Deputy Medical Superintendent of AGMC Dr. Kanak Choudhury, Joint Director, IEC, TSACS Subhrajit Bhattacharjee, Secretary of Tripura Web Media Forum Abhishek Dey, President of Tripura Journalist Union Pranab Sarkar, Principal Correspondent of The Times of India Dr. Biswendu Bhattacharjee and others were present.

Addressing in the programme Director of ICA Bimbisar Bhattacharya said lack of awareness is to blame for the prevailing prejudices against HIV and AIDS in our society. Media interventions will be useful in reducing HIV/AIDS disparities because of their reach and effectiveness, he added.

Superintendent of AGMC Dr. Kanak Choudhury said “People are not genuinely ignoring HIV/AIDS patients but are unaware of the facts related to it. If we can educate them about the disease, it will make the people understand the situation better, he added.
