Serious allegations are against UCO Bank Zonal Manger Raju Das and employee Surajit Mallik over their alleged involvement in a fraud on mis-selling of life insurance from customer. A t the time of this fraud of mis-selling of life insurance from customer Surajit Mallik was the Manager of UCO Bank Chandrapur branch, Dharmanagar but now he has been transferred somewhere else. Till date no action has taken against him.

An inquiry report has been sent to head office mentioning that the incident is a case of mis-selling and Raju Das Zonal Manger with the help of Scale Three officer of Zonal Office Agartala provided false Information regarding the complaint raised against Surajit Mallick. He fraudulently opened loan account and disbursed it to third party account for achiving SBI LIFE insurance target.

On being asked about regarding this incident UCO Bank Zonal Manger Raju said that all these allegations are baseless against him and proper steps are taken against Surajit Mallik.

We tried to contact Surajit Mallik several times but we haven’t got any response from him regarding his alleged involvement in the fraud on mis-selling of life insurance from customer.

In this regard UCO Bank Agartala Zonal Office sent a letter to Surajit Mallik dated 09/12/2022 regarding discrepancies found in loan documents. Another complaint was sent to the Chief Vigilance Officer dated 12/05/2023. As per the complaint, Surajit Mallik the then Manager of UCO Bank Chandrapur branch, Dharmanagar has committed a fraud by mis-selling of life insurance from customer by opening a loan account without her consent. On 03/03/2022 Surajit Mallik has opened a loan account (25200610007976) in the name of Sushmita Sharma, without the consent of customer and disbursed an amount of Rs 1,40,000/- to her savings Account no 25200110071595. He again transferred the amount (Rs 1,40,000/-) to savings account no 25200110044654 (Account Holder name: Paplo Goswami). From the account of Paploo Goswami SBI life insurance policy was initiated on 04.03.2022 and Policy no is 2K420658210. The customer whose loan has been opened without consent has recently complained to Branch Manager Uco Bank Chandrapur branch, when the customer came to know that Rs.1,40,000/- was deducted as SBI LIFE Policy for Paplo Goswami and she lodged her complaint but inspite of conducting a unbiased inquiry, the Zonal Manager of Agartala Zone. Raju Das has given the blame on SBI Life Insurance Corporation for mis- seiling of insurance and providing safe guard to Surajit Mallick from his fraudulent activity in loan accounts and other financial matters.

Just to achieve targets mis-selling and fraudulent transactions in banking sector are increasing day by day and due to such corrupt practices as mentioned above Bank as well as insurance companies reputation are getting damaged.  An independent inquiry should be conducted as many questions remain unanswered.

Calling for more focus on sustaining trees, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder on Tuesday said there was a bigger need to ensure they survive rather than simply planting them. Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder was speaking in a tree plantation drive organized jointly by Nabard Sports and Recreation club and Yuva Vikash Kendra (YVK) on the occasion of World Environment Day 2023 at Umakanta Academy.

 “Don’t just plant (trees), but ensure they have a long life,” he said. Nabard Sports and Recreation club and Yuva Vikash Kendra (YVK) will look after these trees for three years which have been planted today, he mentioned. He also appreciated the members of both the organization for organising such initiative.

“We should plant trees on a large scale to protect earth and its environment. We should think about ways to plant more and more trees. But just planting them is not enough. Even if we plant just five or 10 of them, we should ensure their protection,” he added.

A 60 year old woman died after being hit by a Dharmanagar-Agartala local train at D.M Colony area of Teliamura subdivision on Tuesday.

The deceased, identified as Rasbala Sarkar (60) was a resident of D.M Colony area and was mentally ill for quite some time.  Initially, it is believed that this tragic incident took place because the old woman was mentally ill and went on the railway line due to delusion.  After getting the information police personnel from Teliamura police station and Police personnel from Teliamura GRP police station rushed to the spot.

According to Teliamura GRP Police, the women died due to the impact of the train. But till now the exact reason behind the death is unknown whether it is an accident, suicide or is there any mystery behind it. Only after a proper police investigation it will come out, the Teliamura GRP Police mentioned.

The body has been sent for post-mortem and after that the body will be handed over to the family members, said police.

A special POCSO court of Tripura’s Unakoti District convicted a person and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment on Monday for raping his minor daughter. The police investigation found that the man allegedly took advantage of his wife’s absence and raped his daughter more than once over a couple of days.

According to senior public prosecutor Sandip Debroy, the wife of the convict had lodged an FIR with the Pecharthal Police Station. The FIR was filed on August 31, 2020. In the FIR the wife of the convict claimed that in her absence her husband repeatedly raped her daughter, following which the police took prompt action and arrested the accused.

The accused had been convicted under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. He was also penalised with a cash penalty of 500 along with 20 years of jail term, Sandip Debroy said. As per reports, Additional Public Prosecutor Kankan Debatrata pleaded with the Court on behalf of the state. The special court was headed by Judge Amarendra Kumar Singh.

The BJP-led Tripura government is working for overall development of the Healthcare system which is a priority sector of the present state government, said Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha after inaugurating the newly built building of Kanchanmala Primary Health Centre on Monday.

The present state government has been making relentless efforts to strengthen the health infrastructure up to the primary level. The new facility will largely benefit the local people in delivering healthcare, he added.

The Chief Minister said, earlier people of the state had to go outside the state for getting treatments. Necessary initiatives have been taken presently so that patients need not go outside the state for treatment. 9 Super Speciality services have been started recently. Complex surgeries like Neuro and Cardiac surgeries etc. are being performed in the state itself.

Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder today flagged off a rally on NIPUN Tripura under Janbhagidari events organized by district education office from Umakanta Academy School, aimed at promoting the key principles of the new education policy.

Addressing in the programme Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder said that National Education Policy (NEP-2020) recognizes the crucial role of Foundational skills in the national development.  The National Education Policy 2020 envisioned children with strong Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) skills and advocated for appropriate reforms at multiple levels to achieve the same. As part of this National Initiative for Proficiency in reading with Understanding and Numeracy (NIPUN) has been mooted to make the students at the pre-primary as well as at the primary level, he said.

The rally commenced from the Umakanta  Academy school and ended infront of Rabindra Shata Barshiki Bhawan. Various schools participated in the rally. Director of education Chandrani Chandran and other officials of the education department were also present.

The Tripura Board of Joint Entrance Examination (TBJEE) declared the result of the TJEE 2023 today June 12. The Tripura Joint Entrance Exam (Tripura JEE) can be checked online at the following websites- tbjee.nic.in, tripura.gov.in and tbresults.tripura.gov.in.

As per the TBJEE result 2023 data, of the total 5,636 candidates applied for the entrance test. 2,606 candidates were from physics, chemistry and maths (PCM) group and 4,689 candidates were from physics, chemistry and biology (PCB) group. Dipayan Karmakar, Ayushman Saha and Uday Saha have topped TBJEE 2023 from the PCM group, while Rajdipa Sutradhar, Ayushmita Das and Maari Debbarma have bagged the top positions from the PCB group.

One person died and another in critical condition in a road accident involving two trucks in Assam’s Badarpur district on Sunday.

According to the reports, a truck driver died on the spot in a head on collision between two trucks and the other truck driver in critical condition. A truck bearing number AS01GC 7447 was going to Karimganj side collided head on with another truck bearing number AS01EC 7978 which was coming from the opposite direction. As a result truck driver Babar Hossain resident of Bakharchal village in Assam died on the spot and another truck driver Bikas Das who hails from Kanchanbari in Tripura received serious injuries. Bikas Das was sent to Silchar Medical Hospital after the accident. Meanwhile, the police personnel of Badarpur police station have started investigating the accident.

BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda is scheduled to visit the state on June 17 and address a rally in Santirbazar area in South Tripura district. The rally will be organised to celebrate the nine years of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.

A meeting was held today at BJP state party office regarding the visit of BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda. The meeting was chaired by Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharya along with party leaders.

The rally will be organised to celebrate the nine years of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre and marking the beginning of the party’s campaign for next year’s Lok Sabha elections.

Tripura has two parliamentary constituencies – Tripura West and Tripura East – both of which were bagged by the ruling party in the 2019 polls.
