Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday inaugurated the second state conference of the Assembly of Journalists (AOJ) here at Agartala Muktadhara auditorium and said that freedom of press is essential for strengthening the democratic system of any state.
“Government is committed to ensure security for the journalists of the state. Strict actions will be taken against any attacks on the journalists of our state,” Dr. Saha.
He said that the media and the journalists should work with a positive attitude towards promoting the welfare schemes of the government, so that the general public or the beneficiaries can come out in large numbers to avail the benefits of the government.
“The state government is also sincere in solving the problems of media and journalists,” he said, adding that the journalists of the state are not less than the journalists of other states of the country.
He said that the government is also working on imparting training to the journalists from time to time through the department of Information and Cultural Affairs so that the journalists of the state can grow their skill in journalism. Senior journalists, journalists from different media houses were present in the programme.
