A concerted effort is needed to curb crimes against women said minister for youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Education and Labour Tinku Roy while addressing in the state level seminar on “Women of Mahila Thana (Working, Efficiency and Effectiveness)” organized by Tripura Commission for Women, Sponsored by National Commission for Women at Pragya Bhavan on Tuesday.
Increasing the number of female police stations will not reduce crime against women. That’s why I want public awareness. There should be coordination between the police and the Tripura Women’s Commission to create public awareness, he added.
The Department of Social Welfare and Social Education has taken various steps to improve the socio-economic status of women in the state. One stop centres to prevent domestic violence against women has been launched. The present government has given priority to making the women of the state self-reliant, he added.
The BJP-led Tripura government is working for overall development of the people of the state. Our government is a pro-people government. Our main aim is to how we can help people and how they can be benefitted. Our government is working to provide all kinds of benefits to people and keeping a close eye on their problems. Tripura has created a model of ‘good governance and protection of people’ under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Chairperson of Tripura Commission for Women Barnali Goswami said that Mahila Thana and Tripura Commission for Women should work together to reduce crimes against women in the state.
