The BJP-led Tripura government is determined to maintain peace and harmony in the state said chief minister Dr. Manik Saha while addressing in the inaugural ceremony of Raksha Bandhan Utsav organized by Prajapita Brahmakumaris Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya at Ramnagar on Thursday.

People are bound by this bond since birth. Raksha Bandhan festival not only strengthens the foundation of brother-sister relationship, this bond also reminds society of the responsibility towards every woman, including mother and sister. So the importance of Raksha Bandhan festival is immense, he added.
The present state government has been working on the goal of women self-empowerment in the state since its inception. 33 percent seats are reserved for women in government jobs. Also 50 percent reservation has been made for women in allotment of government market stalls and shopping complexes. Girls are getting free tuition in general degree colleges of the state. Free bicycle is being provided to girl students studying in class IX. So far about 1 lakh bicycles have been distributed among girl students. Besides, the state government has also taken the initiative of giving free scooty to meritorious female students who have passed the secondary and higher secondary examinations, he added. Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder was also present.
