A mammoth victory rally was organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under the leadership of Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Friday. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Rajib Bhattacharjee, BJP candidate Tafajjal Hossain and BJP candidate Bindu Debnath were also present.

Thousands of BJP supporters took to the streets in Agartala to celebrate the party’s landslide victory in the Tripura by-elections of Dhanpur and Boxanagar assembly constituency.

Slogans hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha were shouted out alongside high decibel music. The rally started from Pradesh BJP Karjalaya, Krishnanagar and covered the whole city.

Addressing the gathering, CM Prof. Dr. Manik Saha said that “This is the victory of the people of the State”. We are very grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he added.

Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Friday on his social media handle wrote, I thank the people of Boxanagar & Dhanpur assembly constituencies for this landslide victory of Bharatiya Janata Party in the bye-polls. This victory represents the people’s continuous faith in PM Shri @narendramodi Ji & @BJP4India President @JPNadda Ji, We shall continue to work to fulfill the people’s aspirations.

BJP candidate Tafajjal Hossain who contested against the CPI-M’s Mizan Hossain in Boxanagar assembly constituency got 34,146 votes and swept the elections by 30,237, while his rival candidate Hossain got only 3,909 votes. On the other hand, the BJP candidate Bindu Debnath bagged the Dhanpur seat, which has a significant tribal population, by 18,871 votes. Debnath got 30,017 votes, and his nearest rival Kaushik Chanda of the CPI-M got 11,146 votes.
