To enhance urban transportation efficiency and promote Environmentally-Friendly Practices, the Tripura government along with the rest of the nation has decided to roll out the Prime Minister’s e-Bus service in the state, said transport minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Wednesday.
The minister chaired a crucial meeting with the transport officials here in his office chamber at the secretariat to discuss the development of depot infrastructure, setting up of multimodal Inter-charge services at various bus depots. Series of issues were discussed to take the preparation of rolling out the service in the city.
“Introduction of e-bus service will not only ensure eco-friendly service, but also it will enhance the standard of living of the common masses of the state,” the minister said, adding that this will also generate employment opportunities in the state.
He said, “The Prime Minister has taken this initiative keeping in mind environmental sustainability and climate change. In our state, this project will be particularly helpful in expanding the electric transport system.”
Secretary of the state finance department Apoorba Roy, Transport Department Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma, Urban Development Department Director Rajat Panth, Transport Department Commissioner Subrata Chowdhury and others were present in the meeting.
