In yet another major drug haul, Tripura Police arrested one drug peddler and seized 456 grams of heroin worth Rs 50 lakh from West Churaibari area under Churaibari Police Station on Sunday night.

The police stated that they received a crucial tip-off regarding one drug peddler, on the basis of the tip-off police personnel from Churaibari Police Station raided the house of drug peddler Moin Uddin in West Churaibari area.

During the raid, police officials found 456 grams of heroin packed in eight soap cases worth Rs 50 lakh from the house of drug peddler Moin Uddin son of Abdul Majid resident of West Churaibari area.

The accused Moin Uddin was booked under relevant sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic  Substances Act, 1985.

However, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has called on Tripura to get rid of drugs. Police are seizing crores worth of heroin, brown sugar, cannabis (ganja) and arresting traffickers, but the real kingpins remain out of reach, which is why the state is not moving towards a drug-free state despite so many anti-drug campaigns.
