Union Minister of State, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhoumik on Sunday inaugurated the three day long Brahmakunda Mela at Brahmakunda in Simna under Mohanpur Subdivision.

Speaking in the inaugural ceremony Union Minister of State, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhoumik said that the Brahmakunda Mela is centuries old. The fair is held twice a year.  The Brahmakunda traditional fair is held on the eighth day of Ras Purnima and Ashokashtami, she added.

Referring to the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ Union Minister of State, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhoumik said the initiative would connect every eligible person with public welfare schemes. The nationwide ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of Tribal Pride Day on November 15. The Yatra involves direct contact with the common people, raising awareness among them and providing them access to sanitation facilities, essential financial services, electricity connections, LPG cylinders, housing for the poor, food security, proper nutrition, reliable health services, clean drinking water, etc, she added.

To facilitate immediate services, various camps will be set up by departments such as the health department and others. The yatra, designed to inform and empower citizens about the government’s flagship schemes, aims to create awareness and deliver the benefits of welfare programs directly to the people, she mentioned.

Our main aim is to how we can help people and how they can be benefitted. Our government is working to provide all kinds of benefits to people and keeping a close eye on their problems. We are working to achieve the top performance. Our main priority is to solve the basic problems of common people. Tripura has progressed a lot, including infrastructure development, good governance and other services, since 2018 when the BJP-Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) government came to power in the state, she added.
