To commemorate the birth anniversary of poet Subramania Bharati, a pioneer of modern Tamil poetry who penned songs to kindle patriotism during the Independence movement, Tripura along with the rest of the nation will observe ‘Bharatiya Bhasha Diwas’ on December 11 next.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha is scheduled to inaugurate the state level function here at Agartala Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan on December 11.

Addressing a press conference here in the conference hall of the civil secretariat the Special Secretary of the state education department Ravel Hemendra Kumar said that according to the decision of the Ministry of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of the Government of India, the ‘Bharatiya Bhasha Diwas’ will be observed every year on December 11. 

The special secretary said that this program is mainly for the purpose of learning about each other’s language and encouraging this among the youths.

Various programs are being organized in various schools, colleges and educational institutions as a part of Indian Language Day celebration from September 28 last and it will end with Indian Language Day celebration on December 11. Initiatives have been taken to organize various programs at school, district and state level on December 11 to observe the day, he said.
