Two self-styled commanders of the outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura’s (NLFT) Biswamohan faction were arrested from Simna along the India-Bangladesh international border on Thursday night.
The NLFT militants were identified as Sachin Debbarma (52), who served as the self-styled Chief of Army Staff of NLFT and Utpal Debbarma alias D Omthai (55), who served as the self-styled secretary general of the outfit. According to the police, the duo was detained soon after they crossed the border to enter I to the Indian territory from their Bangladesh hideout.
Based on a specific information, police laid a trap along the border at Simna on Thursday night, following which they were apprehended, said police.
Both of them were produced before the court seeking their police custody for interrogation as both of them were accused of large-scale killing, murder and mayhem of civilians and security personnel besides, extortion and abduction.
