Assam Rifles organised Plantation Drive at Tepania Colony High School in Gomati District of Tripura on Friday.
The main objective of organising the plantation drive was to raise awareness among students about the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance, mitigating climate change and preserving biodiversity. The drive also aimed at instilling a sense of long-term environmental stewardship by emphasizing that tree planting is not a one-time event but part of an ongoing commitment to ecological sustainability.
A total of 18 combatants and 68 Teachers and Children participated in the plantation drive wherein, 80 saplings including fruit bearing plants were planted in the event.
