Assam Rifles conducted two weeks joint Watermanship Training  with NDRF, which culminated as Exercise SURAKSHA in the banks of Gomati River in Tripura on 25 April 2024.

Agartala being in the map of the flood-prone area of the State, necessary precautionary measures are required to be undertaken by various state and central agencies which might be called upon at the time of such natural calamities.

The aim of the joint training exercise was to prepare the Assam Rifles troops for the upcoming monsoon season and train them in various flood relief and rescue operations techniques.

Exercise SURAKSHA was conducted in Gomati River to validate the flood relief drills and techniques that the trainees had learnt during the two weeks training exercise. An hour long Exercise based on real life emergency rescue mission was simulated and conducted by the NDRF instructor which involved dynamic driving of boat in 8 figure, rescue of drowning civilians by using boats and without boats. Deep diving to rescue drowned people  and evacuate them after administering first aid and CPR were demonstrated by the Assam Rifles teams.
