Police arrests 3 Tripura residents with Yaba tablets worth Rs 66 Crore
In a major drug haul, Assam Police’s Special Task Force (STF) in collaboration with the local police seized over 20,00000 Yaba tablets and arrested three residents of Tripura from a vehicle on Wednesday at Assam’s Karimganj district.
Acting on a tip off, a team led by Assam Inspector General (IG) of Police (STF) Partha Sarathi Mahanta launched a operation and managed to identify the vehicle. The arrested persons have been identified as Khairul Hossain, Nabir Hossain and Maman Mia all of them residents of Melaghar. After intercepting the Bolero car searched it thoroughly and found the boxes filled with Yaba tablets in a secret chamber under the backlights. Moreover, the estimated value of the confiscated Yaba tablets in the illicit market amounts to approximately Rs 66 Crore, said Assam Inspector General (IG) of Police (STF) Partha Sarathi Mahanta .
