Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Thursday inaugurated Sulma Dongur Tuisoi waterfall at Kamalpur, located at Sanaiya Reang Para, about 130 kms away from the capital town of Agartala and said that the government is contemplating to boost the tourism sector in Tripura.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the previous government had never thought of developing the tourism industry of the state, which is capable of giving a good revenue earning to the government. He said that after the establishment of the present government, special initiatives have been taken to develop the tourism industry in Tripura.
Chief Minister Dr Saha said that under the Swadesh Darshan project, the development of tourist centers like Sipahijala, Neer Mhala, Udaipur, Ujjayanta Palace, Jampuihil etc. is going on. 41 eco-friendly log huts have been opened at various tourist spots in the state, while 10 more log huts will be opened soon.
The Tripura government is also focused on developing adventurous tourism in the state to attract the younger generation, Dr Saha said, adding that adventure tourism has been developed at Dumbur reservoir, Chabimura and Jampui Hill.
Dr Saha said that the government is working to develop more tourist destinations of the state with assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The Asian Development Bank project will develop tourism centers like Fatik Sagar, Amar Sagar, Neer Mahal, Chabimura, etc. by spending at least Rs 1.80 crore, he added.
