Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Monday officially launched the CM-SATH scheme to provide financial support to meritorious students at Agartala Town Hall. Under the CM-SATH scheme Rs 5,000 for 100 toppers of Madhyamik and HS examinations will be given for their higher education.

Addressing on the occasion, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha said that the main objectives of the government in education sector are formulation of educational policy and programmes, ensuring implementation of them in real sense, ensuring quality education and learning process, working for the development of the distressed, poor, tribal people, women and minority section of society, provision of financial assistance, scholarship etc. and implementation of National Education Policy in educational institutions.

The CM-SATH project will provide Rs 5,000 monthly in financial support to 100 students based on the merit order of secondary examination results for two years, and Rs 5,000 monthly to 100 students based on the merit order of higher secondary examination results for three years. Under CM-SATH scheme, 152 students at the block level, 12 students at the Nagar Panchayat level, 26 students at the Municipal Council level, and 10 students at the Agartala Municipal Corporation level will be selected. A total of 200 beneficiaries will receive financial assistance. In addition to the CM-SATH scheme, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha also highlighted other state government initiatives aimed at strengthening the education system. These include the ‘Super- 30’ scheme, which provides financial assistance for top 30 students in Class X to facilitate quality coaching for competitive exams like NEET and JEE to them, he added.
