The biodiversity board jointly with the Tripura SCATFORM Project organised forest food festival here at Agartala Heritage Park on Saturday.
The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests K S Shetty had inaugurated the programme and said that the festival is focused on enhancing the income of the local tribal communities and to bring the forest-grown food and vegetables into the mainstream of a society.
“The government has taken initiatives to link the lifestyle and food habits of the people with tourism,” he said, adding that the forest food is not only popular among the people of the state, but equally popular among the people of other parts.
Additional Chief Conservator of Forests K Shyamal , Member Secretary of Tripura Biodiversity Board Praveen Agarwal, Director of Tribal Welfare Department S Prabhu and other officials of Forest Department were present on the occasion.
