Police seize huge consignment of Phensedyl bottles worth Rs 1.50 crore: one arrested
In yet another significant breakthrough, the Traffic Unit of Ambassa in association with Ambassa Police Station on Monday seized at least 19575 bottles of banned cough syrup Phensedyl worth Rs. 1.5 crore from a 12-wheeler truck.
The police stated that they intercepted the truck bearing number AS01QC3268 at Kathalabari Naka Point at Ambassa in Dhalai district and during a meticulous search of the vehicle, police officials found 19575 bottles of Phensedyl packed in 198 boxes.The approximate market value of the seized contraband worth Rs 1.5 crore.
Police also said that they have arrested the co-driver of the vehicle identified as Mintu Das of Karimganj, however, the driver escaped from the spot.
The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. He will be produced before the court on July 04, said cops.
