Minister for youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Educationand Labour Tinku Roy inaugurated the state level workshop on risk management and prevention of antibiotic resistance organized by Volunteer Health Association of Tripura in collaboration with National Health Mission Tripura at Shahid Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel on July 24.
Addressing in the programme minister for youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Educationand Labour Tinku Roy said everyone, including health workers, must get involved in the antibiotic resistance campaign and urged the public to be cautious when patronizing antibiotics and to seek advice from health professionals for appropriate action.
He said antibiotic resistance had come about due to many complicated factors and needed to be tackled holistically.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), by 2050 antimicrobial resistance is expected to be the first cause of death, creating more causalities than cancer and diabetes combined.
