Aiming to generate more eco-friendly power, the Tripura government is ready to expand the gas based thermal power project in Rokhia under Sepahijala district under the “Capacity Augmentation” system.
In view of this the state power minister Ratan Lal Nath on Tuesday met the union minister of forest and environment Bhupendra Yadav in Delhi to discuss the possibility of clearance of the Pollution Control Board for the expansion project work.
“We are hoping that within the next few months, we will be able to start a new journey with the Rokhia thermal power project after all the complications are removed,” Nath said in social media handle.
He further said, “Once we get the clearance from the pollution control board, Rokhia’s current 63 MW power generation will be increased to 120 MW with the expansion of the project.”
Earlier, the Managing Director of the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) said that the setting up of 120 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant would be funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) under 80:20 ratio.
