Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha on Sunday appealed to the residents of the State to donate blood in order to save lives. “Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives”. Each unit of blood donated is separated into four major components -platelets, plasma, red blood cells and white blood cells which can be used to save four lives, he said.

Addressing in a Blood Donation Camp Organised by Rotary Club of Agartala City in Association with RAC Agartala Central and RAC Agartala City here in Agartala on Sunday Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha said it takes just a few minutes to donate blood, with each unit of blood donated being used to save four lives. We can segregate blood components these days and one unit is used to save lives. Many a time blood is not easily available to people in emergency situations. People need to understand the importance of blood donation and there is no harm in donating it. Donation is the lone source of blood. So, to save life, blood needs to be donated, he said.

There are 14 blood banks in the state. The current government of the state is constantly trying to improve the health system, he added.

Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, President of Agartala Rotary Club Dr. Nihar Ranjan Das and others were present in the blood donation camp.

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has inaugurated the event here at Agartala Rabindra Bhavan on Friday. The Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha after inaugurating the event said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the PM-Vishwakarma scheme for the overall development of all the traditional artisans and artists of our country who were never recognized before.He said that the main objective of the project is to provide facilities to the traditional artisans and artists associated with 18 selected trades including carpenters, masons, barbers, washermen, malakars, tailors, doll and toy makers. The scheme provides benefits like skill training, collateral-free loans, modern machinery or equipment, incentives for digital transactions etc. to the artisans, he added.The chief minister also said that the condition of the state’s rural economy is now much better with the increase of Self-Help Groups (SHGs). The Self Help Groups are being supported through various welfare schemes of the Central and State Governments. Besides, the self-help groups are also getting credit facilities from the banks.

Meanwhile, The Union Minister of Micro-Small-Medium Enterprises (MSME) Jitan Ram Manjhi on Friday claimed that the state of Tripura has made a significant progress in executing the Centre’s PM Vishwakarma scheme, which aims to enhance the rural economy.He made this remark while attending the inauguration of three-day long exhibition and fair on PM-Vishwakarma Scheme. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has inaugurated the event here at Agartala Rabindra Bhavan on Friday.Addressing the event, the Union Minister said that various programs are being implemented across the country under the PM-Vishwakarma project. The main objective of this project is to generate income for the poor section of the society, he said, adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid special emphasis on self-employment through micro, small and medium enterprises. It is in this view that the prime minister has taken this initiative so that the people of rural areas can live comfortably, he added.He also claimed that Tripura has made significant progress in implementing the PM-Vishwakarma scheme among the North Eastern regions. He expressed hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of building a self-reliant and developed India would be realized through the implementation of the development programme.

Industry and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma said on the occasion that special importance has been given to micro, small and medium industries in the formation of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Atmanirbhar Tripura. She expressed hope that the quality of life of artisans associated with 18 traditional professions will improve through this project.

The state Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy on Friday chaired the review meeting for State level youth festival and Science mela at Kailasahar Circuit House. The state level youth festival to begin from November 13 at Kailasahar in Unakoti district of the state. The three days long festival will end on November 15.

The minister further informed that Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha is likely to inaugurate the programme on November 13. He also said that competitions in group and solo folk dances, folk songs, painting, poetry and story writing will be held in the youth festival.

In the meeting, a management committee and 9 sub-committees have been formed for the smooth completion of the youth festival and science fair.

In yet another major crackdown on illegal infiltration, the Government Railway Police Station (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) have detained 3 Bangladeshi nationals including two Women for entering India without any valid travel document on Thursday from Agartala railway station.

The Officer-in-Charge of the Government Railway Police Station Tapas Das informed there was information about the arrival of some Bangladesh nationals, on the basis of the information the GRP RPF have detained 3 Bangladeshi nationals from Agartala railway station. We have recovered Some Bangladeshi Currency and Indian currency from them. The arrested bangladeshi nationals have been identified as Sagar Ghosh (19), Sonali Rani Ghosh (37) and Manisha Kumari Ghosh (19) all of them residents of Narail District in Bangladesh. Preliminary probe revealed that the Bangladeshis crossed the borders illegally and entered Indian soil. The 3Bangladeshi nationals were planning to go to Kolkata. They will be produced before a court, the police officer said.

The Agartala GR Police jointly with the RPF on Thursday detained one person with 15.5 kilograms of dry cannabis from his backpacks from Agartala Railway station. The detained person has been identified as Fokoriudddin Ahmed resident of Kamrup district in Assam.

The Officer-in-Charge of the Government Railway Police Station Tapas Das informed that, they received an information, on the basis of the information they laid a trap and detained one person from  Agartala-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express. During the search of the backpacks police recovered 15.5 kilograms of dry cannabis. After the preliminary investigation the arrested said that the seized marijuana (ganja) was intended for smuggling purpose, the police officer said.

Governor of Tripura Indra Sena Reddy Nallu on Wednesday graced the Biannual Group Commanders Conference- 2024 held  at  21 Sector Assam Rifles, Agartala and interacted with the Officers and Cadets of NCC of Northeastern Region.

Speaking on the occasion Governor of Tripura Indra Sena Reddy Nallu said NCC is not just a parade ground or an educational institution. NCC is a larger platform to learn about Indian philosophy, culture, history, music, civilization and other subjects.  Major General Gagandeep, ADG of Assam Rifles and Group Commanders and others were present. Major General Gagandeep Additional Director General, North Eastern Region of NCC said that there are currently 5,300 NCC cadets in 95 schools and colleges in the state, including 2 thousand 500 girls cadets.

In a significant step forward for Tripura’s infrastructure development, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha attended the review meeting of National Highway Projects alongside Union Minister of Road, Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari, Union Ministers of State Ajay Tamta & Harsh Malhotra, and other concerned officials at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi.The projects reviewed at the meeting were undertaken by National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, aim to enhance connectivity and economic growth in Tripura. All stakeholders were present, and a collective resolve was formed to complete the projects promptly, removing any obstacles.

Ruling out the opposition political parties’ allegation of deteriorated law and order situation in Tripura, the Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan on Monday claimed that the situation has improved in the state.Addressing a press conference here at Agartala on Monday, the DGP said that misinformation is being spread. He said, “The fact is that the state has recorded a lesser number of crimes this year compared to the last 10 years.”Referring to the alleged custodial death of a tribal youth in Manubazar police station, the DGP said that the police do make mistakes sometimes but action was taken swiftly in the case.The DGP’s statement came amid the opposition’s criticism of the police over the death of a tribal youth after alleged custodial torture, the murder of a businessman in Agartala, and communal tensions in North Tripura’s Kadamtala and Panisagar.
