TripuraheraldChief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Thursday led the nomination paper submission here in West Tripura Zilla Parishad and Zilla Panchayat in Gomati district under Matabari block and expressed his confidence of the BJP’s victory in the upcoming elections to the three-tier panchayat.
Soon after ending the procedure of nomination paper submission, the Chief Minister Dr Saha visited the Tripurasundari temple and offered prayer.
Earlier, on July 14, Dr Saha addressed the Extended State Executive Meeting of the BJP, urging party unity and discipline. He emphasized the need for party workers to communicate the development work undertaken by both the state and central governments. Highlighting grassroots initiatives, Dr Saha instructed party members to connect with the public and ensure the BJP’s philosophy resonates with them.

TripuraheraldTripura’s century-old traditional Kharchi Puja commenced at Chaturdash Devata Temple, Khayerpur on Sunday. Tripura has a glorious history of art and culture. This traditional art and culture of the state is in no way less than the culture of any other state in the country. Our society and culture will be more prosperous only if we can carry this tradition forward by the hands of the next generation, said Chief Minister Prof. (Dr) Manik Saha after inaugurating the 7-day long traditional Kharchi Puja Festival at Chaturdash Devata Temple, Khayerpur on Sunday.
Minister for Tourism Sushanta Chowdhury, chairman of organizing committee and MLA Ratan Chakraborty, MLA Rampada Jamatia, MLA Dipak Majumder and other dignitaries were present.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr Saha said that the culture of India is ancient and rich and hence to bring prosperity to the nation, it is required to handover the traditional art and culture of the country’s heritage to the younger and the next generation.
The Chief Minister said that the last day of the festival on July 20 is declared as a public holiday as this year’s Kharchi festival and exhibition started on a Sunday holiday. This initiative is for the pilgrims to enjoy the Kharchi Mela in a good manner, he said.
The chief minister said on the occasion that the main theme of this year’s Kharchi festival and exhibition is ‘green is the future’ which is very significant and relevant. Dr Saha mentioned about the planting of 5 lakhs trees in five minutes in Tripura and said that the tradition of being with nature and worshiping nature has come from the King’s rule in Tripura.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished the people of Tripura on the occasion. The Prime Minister wrote on X, “Wishing everyone, particularly the people of Tripura, on the occasion of Kharchi Puja! May the divine blessings of Chaturdash Devata always remain upon us, bringing joy and good health to all. May it also enrich everyone’s lives with prosperity and harmony.”
Home Minister Amit Shah also extended greetings. He wrote on X, “My heartfelt best wishes to our sisters and brothers in Tripura on the occasion of Kharchi Puja. May this festival of bonding with Mother Earth bring prosperity, happiness, and good health to everyone.”

The Mobile internet suspended in Dhalai District to prevent spreading of any sort of rumours after tension sparked between different communities over the death of a tribal youth at Gandatwisa. The Mobile internet services will be opened on July 14, said Dhalai district magistrate Saju Waheed.

In a notification, Tripura home secretary PK Chakraborty said, it has been reported by the District Magistrate & Collector, Dhalal District that on 12th July, 2024 a kind of serious mob violence took place in Gandacharra Sub- Division where burning of shops were reported and messaging system like SMS and whatsApp and social media platform like Face Book, Twitter and You tube are likely to be used for the transmission of fake information like picture, images, videos and text that have the potential to incite violence in that case at a larger rate. In order to prevent misuse of the above mentioned media to disturb the peace and tranquillity of the entire State and for maintaining the Law & Order situation, the State promulgates this notification under the provision of Section 52 of the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885, to prohibit the following types of media from midnight of 12/07/2024 to till the next day of 13/07/2024 of 12:00 PM (midnight) throughout the Dhalai District, PK Chakraborty said in the notification.

The last date for making nominations is July 18, the date for scrutiny will be July 19, and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is July 22, he told reporters.“We have 6,370 seats under 3,517 constituencies of 606 Gram Panchayats, 35 Panchayat Samities in which there are 423 constituencies and 423 seats, and 116 constituencies and seats under 8 Zila Parishads,” he said, adding that the total number of voters is 12,94,153, including 6,58,445 males, 6,35,597 females, and 11 others, and the total number of polling stations is 2,650. He further informed that the Commission had meetings with the District Election Officers and Returning Officers to ensure free, fair, and peaceful conduct of the poll.Regarding law and order, he said that the Commission had meetings with the Police Administration to review the maintenance of law and order and security arrangements during the poll.IG L Darlong, who was present at the press meet, said, “Adequate security arrangements will be made for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the General Election to Panchayats. TripuraheraldThe administration of the Tripura tribal Areas and Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) on Wednesday announced an ambitious TIPRA-HAM (Tripura Indigenous Peoples’ Livelihood Resource Assistance and Help For Advancement of Micro-Entrepreneurship) scheme to provide self-employment opportunities for the indigenous youths of the state.Under the TIPRA-HAM scheme, the beneficiaries will be getting a collateral-free low-interest loan for Electric Auto with a 20% subsidy from the TTAADC, said founder of the TTAADC’s ruling TIPRA Motha Pradyot Kishore Debbarma.Addressing a press conference here at Agartala, he said that the primary objective of the TTAADC administration is to encourage entrepreneurship-based livelihood. He said, “To make the system transparent, we are launching a portal today. Those who need auto loans, for which we are giving a subsidy, can apply on the portal of TIPRA HAM.”Applicants of the scheme must be permanent residents of a TTAADC area, of 21-45 years of age and should contribute 15 per cent of the total cost of the autorickshaws.“We have also thought of some schemes for buying vehicles for bringing veggies from villages to markets. Our job is to give people opportunities to earn more money and promote more entrepreneurship. That is why we started the policy,” he said, adding that charging points would be provided in each house and every zonal area for the electric autorickshaws.
