In yet another crackdown on illegal infiltration, Tripura police arrested three Bangladeshi nationals from RMS chowmuhani area on Sunday.The officer in-charge of the West Agartala Police Station Paritosh Das informed based on a specific information, police personnel from West Agartala police station have detained three bangladeshi nationals. The arrested bangladeshi nationals have been identified as Tasmin, Imran and Jashid all of them residents of Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh. After the preliminary investigation, the Bangladeshi nationals admitted that they entered into the Indian territory in Tripura by illegally crossing the border through Lonkamura area on Sunday. A specific case has been registered against the arrested Bangladeshi nationals. They will be produced before the court on Monday seeking police remand, Paritosh Das added.He further said that on August 29 they have arrested one Bangladeshi national MD Suman from Lankamura area. During interrogation he revealed more two names, on the basis of the information Police personnel from West Agartala Police Station on Friday arrested two Bangladeshi nationals from city centre area.We launched a hunt to track down the ‘Agents’ who are facilitating the infiltration of the people from Bangladesh. The agents locally known as ‘Linemen’ are active in specific border areas marked for the intrusion from across the border. The places are fenced and guarded, but the ‘Linemen’ have the access and the ability to transfer the people through safe corridors in lieu of money. Most of the infiltration bids occurred during the night and the Agents arranged ladders on both sides of the fencing to smuggle men and women who pay for the service, said the police officer.

Tripura’s young chess prodigy Arshiya Das bagged gold again, this time Arshiya Das has won gold medal in Under-14 Rapid event of Commonwealth Chess Championship at Sri Lanka. She was unbeaten with 6.5 points in 7 rounds.Few days back Arshiya Das has won the gold medal in Under-14 Blitz category of Commonwealth Chess Championship at Sri Lanka.Arshiya is a student of Matrix Chess Academy run by chess coach and national level player Prasenjit Datta. Prasenjit Datta has conveyed his best wishes to his student Arshiya and expressed the hope that she will perform well in the coming days.Arshiya is the only daughter of Purnendu Das and his wife Arnisha Das.

“Though science and technology have developed to a great extent, no person has succeeded in finding an alternative or a substitute for blood. Hence, the blood is very precious,” opined said Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder.Addressing in a blood donation camp organised by the All Tripura Book Sellers & Publishers Associationon on Sunday here in Agartala, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder said, responding to the appeal of chief minister Dr. Manik Saha, various clubs, social organizations & others have come forward for organizing blood donation camps over the past few months. It reflects the commitment of the people towards social responsibilities, he added.Standing beside a person in trouble and extending a helping hand is an ideal person. Hundreds of people are losing in the battle of life for a drop of blood every moment, we do not want this in any way. We can save many lives by donating blood. Though many impossible things happen in modern medical science but blood has not been discovered yet. As a result, the patients who need excess blood for some reason, that blood has to be collected from the body of a healthy person. This is why blood donation is considered a great donation, he added.One person can help another by donating blood. Therefore, people should come up and donate their blood so that the needy person can be cured. There is no alternative of blood. He appealed to donate blood as much as possible as there is no substitute for human blood.

A leopard cat cub was rescued by the Tripura police from Dhaleswar area on Sunday.The officer in charge of East Agartala Police station Rana Chaterjee informed that while on patrol one police personnel from East Agartala Police station noticed that some locals were trying to rescue a small cat cub. Immediately he went to the rescue and realised that it was a leopard cat cub. After rescuing the little cub he brought it to the police station. The cub was later handed over to the forest department officials. The forest department officials will take it to the Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary, Rana Chaterjee said.

In response to the devastating flood situation in Tripura, which caused havoc across the state due to the torrential rain from August 19-23, the state of Tripura is declared as “Natural Calamity Affected Area”.The decision was made during a meeting led by the Chief Secretary in the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) on August 24, with the official announcement following on August 27.Considering the gravity of the situation, leading to loss of human lives and public & private properties, the State Government has decided to declare the entire state as “Natural Calamity Affected Area”.Total 32 persons have lost their lives, 2 are injured and 1 person is reported to be missing. Total 346 relief camps are operational by District Administration, providing shelter to around 52,906 persons in the State.An Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) led by B.C. Joshi, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, has arrived in Tripura to assess the damage. The team has already begun on-the-spot evaluations in the severely affected South Tripura and Gomati districts, supported by the District Disaster Management Authorities.

As police detained at least 5 persons in connection with defacing Kali idol at Durganagar Koitur Bazar on August 25 last, a large number of locals of Durganagar area had blocked the National Highway -8 on Thursday to protest against the arrest demanded the police to release the detained youths, who were taken into custody late last night for interrogation regarding the violence.

One of the agitators argued that the 5 persons were wrongly detained by the police in connection with the defacing of Kali idol. They are not involved in defacing Kali idol, the agitator said. “The main culprits who vandalized the idol have not been arrested. We want them punished,” he added and threatened to intensify the protest if the police failed to release the detained persons immediately.

MLA of Majlishpur assembly constituency and minister Sushanta Chowdhury rushed to the spot to intervene and interacted with the agitators to withdraw the blockade.

Urging the agitators to withdraw the blockade, the minister said, “Police had done their duty. We shall move further as per the law only. We cannot protest unlawfully by blocking national highways.” He further appealed to the agitators saying that such unlawful protest will tarnish the image of Chief Minister and the government.

On the other hand, the Superintendent of Police of West District Dr Kiran Kumar who along with a huge contingent of police and TSR jawans were present, said, “We have arrested 5 persons and in response to that people have gathered here to agitate against the move of the police. We are taking action based on the information we have. We anticipate more arrests soon.”

The agitation was later withdrawn with the intervention of the minister, as he assured the agitating locals of looking into the matter on priority basis.

Assam Rifles on Wednesday organised a medical camp at Amarpur Relief Camp in Gomti district.The medical camp in the flood-affected region has been instrumental in offering critical healthcare services, including treatment for waterborne diseases, first aid, and general health check-ups. Additionally, the dental camp has addressed oral health issues exacerbated by the adverse conditions, offering examinations and other necessary dental procedures.A team comprising of two doctors and medical staff of Assam Rifles along with Medical Officer and staffs of District Hospital conducted the medical camp, benefitting 442 local villagers. Assam Rifles distributed medicines, sanitary pads and hygiene kits to the local population alongwith other relief material.The initiative is part of Assam Rifles’ ongoing commitment to disaster relief and community support. The troops have worked tirelessly to rescue more than 2000 people from flood-hit areas and is committed in rehabilitation of displaced people.

Tripura police on Tuesday arrested two serial chain snatchers and recovered 13 gold chains, one pair of earrings and seized a motor bike from their possession. The two arrested chain snatchers have been identified as Samir Mia and Baban Nandi, both residents of Agartala.Briefing the media persons, SP West Tripura Dr. Kiran Kumar said that police personnel from New capital complex police station arrested two chain snatchers on Tuesday involved in several chain snatching cases in Agartala. “We have recovered thirteen gold chains, one pair of earrings and seized a motor bike from their possession worth Rs 15 Lakh”, SP West Tripura said.Some young people are taking their lives to the brink of extinction, like heroin and brown sugar. Being addicted to drugs, they are also involved in various anti-social activities. Unable to raise money for drugs, some are organizing thefts at various homes and shops, which has led to an increase in thefts.
