TripuraheraldIn a significant move towards urban development and environmental conservation, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday laid the foundation stone for renovation and beautification of three water bodies of the capital town of Agartala under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme and stressed on maintaining the water bodies through community involvement.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister Dr Saha urged for public support in ensuring a clean and green city. He said, “The state has achieved incredible success in every field, including health, education, communication, and sports.”
Dr Saha also mentioned the successful implementation of critical health services, such as kidney transplants. “We will not tolerate any kind of politics or differences in the implementation of development programmes,” he asserted, reinforcing the state’s commitment to continuous progress and transparency.
The reservoirs included in this project, which are to be renovated and beautified under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme, are the Central Road Pond, Ujayan Abhoynagar Bazar Reservoir, and Ujaan Abhoynagar Veterinary Hospital Reservoir. The project is set to allocate a budget of Rs 2.78 crore for the Central Road Pond, Rs 3.01 crore for the Ujan Abhoynagar Bazar Reservoir, and Rs 2.47 crore for the Ujan Abhoynagar Veterinary Hospital Reservoir.
Deputy Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Manika Das Dutta, AMC Commissioner Dr Shailesh Kumar Yadav, AMC Mayor in Council Hiralal Debnath and Corporator Ratna Datta among others were present in the programme.

In capital Agartala the main function took place in the Jagannath Temple where thousands of devotees thronged to pull the chariot of Lord Jagannath.
Apart from that Rath Yatra Festival 2023 was also organized by International Society for Krishna Consciousness at ISKCON. Chief Minister Prof Dr. Manik Saha, Minister for youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Education and Labour Tinku Roy participated in the Rath Yatra Festival 2024 and they also pulled the rope linked to the chariot of Lord Jagannath.
The significance of the Rath Yatra is immense for a person, who longs for spiritual merit and final liberation. It is believed that anyone who pulls the rope linked to the chariots of the deities and helps others also in doing so ur merely touches the rope or chariots, gets the merit of several penances.
Documented in Hindu sacred texts Brahma Purana, Padma Purana, Skanda Purana and Kapila Samhita it is believed that Subhadra, sister of Lord Jagannath, desired to travel to Puri. To fulfil her wish, Lord jagannath, along with his elder brother Lord Balabhadra, left for Puri in a chariot with Devi Subhadra.
Since then, this festival marks the annual ceremonial journey of Lord Jagannath, brother Balabhadra and younger sister Subhadra, from their home temple to another temple which is considered to be their aunt’s home.

Enormous changes have been witnessed in the health sector of the state, due to technological Development the state’s health service sector has developed a lot, Dr. Saha added.
The chief minister Dr. Manik Saha also launched the website of Tripura State Dental Council, Agartala Government Dental College and IGM Hospital and he also launched the tele-medicine service of the Agartala Government Dental College through e-Sanjeevani.
He said treatment for dental issues has developed a lot in the state and Agartala Government Dental College is well equipped to provide all necessary services. Experts whoever have visited the dental college have appreciated it. He urged the concerned persons of the Agartala Government Dental College to perform their role in a way that it becomes the best college in the Northeast in its own field.
Towards the development of infrastructure of health sector the state government has been implementing Ayushman Bharat PM Jan Arogya Yojana and Mukyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana. Over 4 lakh people not covered under Ayushman Bharat scheme have been covered under the Mukyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana. The benefits of this scheme are available in different government hospitals like G8 Hospital. Benefits of the scheme will also be made available in ILS and TMC, ne added.

Addressing the gathering in the programme, CM Dr Manik Saha said that Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee’s devotion to the motherland and sacrifice will continue to inspire the countrymen. He said that during the time of the previous government, the present generation was deprived from learning the life and philosophy of profound thinker and Bharat Kesari Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. It was the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who encouraged the countrymen to remember Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee for the growth of the country.

The 7th National Zendokai Karate Championship 2024 is being hosted by Assam Rifles in collaboration with Tripura Zendokai Karate Association at Assam Rifles Public School, Agartala with an aim to promote Zendokai Karate as a sport to foster discipline, strength and sportsmanship among the youth.
A total of 161 participants including 108 boys and 53 girls from 10 States are competing across various age categories and skill levels, demonstrating their dedication and training in Zendokai Karate. With participants travelling from different states of the country, the two day event underscores the unity and competitive spirit within India’s Zendokai Karate community.

TripuraheraldChief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday launched the state wide campaign of planting 5 lakhs saplings in 5 minutes across the state, which underscores the state’s commitment to environmental sustainability and afforestation.
The main function is held at Mohanpur Taranagar, where Chief Minister Dr Saha accompanied by state forest minister Animesh Debbarma, minister Ratan Lal Nath and others joined hands to plant tree saplings.
Addressing the gathering in the programme, the Chief Minister Dr Saha emphasised on the collective responsibility to preserve nature for future generations. He also stressed on maintaining the ecological balance.
The Chief Minister lauded the state’s consistent efforts, noting the significant increase in the number of saplings planted each year from 1 lakh in 2022 to 2 lakh in 2023, and now a record-breaking 5 lakh this year. “Such campaigns are vital and innovative. As this message spreads across India, Tripura will be recognized in a new light,” he added.
Meanwhile, forest minister Animesh Debbarma and agriculture minister Ratan Lal Nath reiterated the critical need to protect ecological balance and combat global warming through sustained afforestation efforts. Agriculture Minister stressed on the importance of compensatory planting, urging that for every tree felled, ten more should be planted. “Without nature’s aid, survival is impossible. Development should go hand in hand with environmental conservation,” he said.
Forest Minister Debbarma declared the event a milestone in environmental protection, noting the involvement of diverse groups, including students, BSF, CRPF, and various institutions. He also announced plans for developing one of the largest flower gardens in the northeastern region within two years.
