TripuraheraldAs torrential rain has hit the state of Tripura over the past 72 hours, the flood situation is worsening in Tripura where all the major rivers are flowing above the danger mark. The switch gate of the Dumboor Reservoir has been opened automatically because the capacity of the reservoir is 94 metres, when the capacity reaches its maximum level then the switch gate of the reservoir automatically lifts up to throw the excess water from the reservoir. This system was made to prevent the reservoir from overflowing. As per reports the release of water from the Dumboor reservoir switch gate has further compounded the flooding situation, as rivers and streams in the plains have swelled beyond their capacities and are flowing above the danger level. At least 10 people died, while one went missing in the state.
