Assam Rifles Battalion under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) conducted lecture on Women Empowerment to commemorate “Women Equality Day” for women of South Takma Village, South Tripura District, on Saturday.
Team from Assam Rifles highlighted the accomplishment of women in fields like Science, technology, politics, education, business, arts and the disparities that are still faced by women in different aspects of life. The lecture also brought out the efforts of suffragists who fought difficult battles and crossed many obstacles to support gender equality by playing a pivotal role in eliminating the gender discrimination. The aim of the lecture was to inspire the young and upcoming generations of women to encourage them to opt any career without any inhibitions and to create an inclusive world where every women is respected, honoured and allowed to make her own choices without any bias.
A total of 73 ladies and 33 males attended the event which culminated with distribution of light refreshments to all. This initiative taken by Assam Rifles for educating and upliftment of women in the state was highly appreciated by the women present.
