The state government is working with an aim to fulfil the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to empower women and achieve economic self-reliance. Making women self-reliant is one of the goals of the state government, said Chief minister Dr. Manik Saha while speaking to the reporters on the auspicious occasion of “Raksha Bandhan” at the official residence of CM on Wednesday.
On the auspicious occasion of Rakhi Purnima, MLA Kalyani Roy, MLA Antara Sarkar Deb and MLA Meenarani Sarkar, women and young girls from different parts of the state gathered at the official residence of Tripura CM on Wednesday to tie rakhi on the wrist of CM Dr. Manik Saha.
Dr. Saha was overwhelmed with the gesture of love and faith bestowed upon him. He also congratulated all the sisters of the state and wished them well on the occasion of “Raksha Bandhan” festival.
The Chief Minister further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched many projects aimed at empowering women. The present state government has been working on the goal of women self-empowerment in the state since its inception. 33 percent seats are reserved for women in government jobs. Also 50 percent reservation has been made for women in allotment of government market stalls and shopping complexes. Girls are getting free tuition in general degree colleges of the state. Free bicycle is being provided to girl students studying in class IX. So far about 1 lakh bicycles have been distributed among girl students. Besides, the state government has also taken the initiative of giving free scooty to meritorious female students who have passed the secondary and higher secondary examinations, he added.
CM Dr. Manik Saha said, “Various important decisions have been taken for the women of the state especially to ensure their safety which is my utmost priority. This includes, free of cost learning for all girl students in all the Govt Colleges of the state. CCTV cameras have been installed in various parts of the city so as to ensure security of women”, said Dr. Saha.
