MP from Mohanlalganj & Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Kaushal Kishore on Thursday inspected the construction work of the ‘Light House Project’ in Agartala.

Speaking to the reporters, MP from Mohanlalganj & Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Kaushal Kishore said the ambitious Light House Project which aims at providing low-cost housing for the economically weaker sections by using steel frame technology from New Zealand. The technology will prevent the houses from the perpetual risks of earthquakes, he added.

The Light House Project (LHP) comprising 1,000 flats is being implemented in the Ramnagar area on the outskirts of the capital city. “Agartala Light House Project is one of the six dream projects of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is being implemented in six states of the country. New Zealand’s technology is being used in the Agartala project; it is earthquake resistant,” he added.

The highest technology is being used in construction of these houses, which will reduce its construction and cost and give the general public cheaper and stronger homes. After completion of the project these housing will be allocated through Prime Minister Awas Yojna (urban), he added.

The Rs 162.50 crore Lighthouse project is adopted for providing housing facility to the economically weaker sections of people living in urban areas. Each Lighthouse project will have 100 flats being built using New Zealand technology, which is cost effective as well as earthquake resistant.
