In yet another anti-narcotics drive, Tripura Police seized a hefty amount of contraband items from a house at Bejimara under Sonamura Police Station on Thursday night. The contraband items which were seized are Phensedyl/Eskuf Syrup.
The police stated that they received a crucial tip-off, on the basis of the tip-off police personnel Sonamura police station raided the house of Sabuj Rahman in Bejimara. During the raid police officials found 650 bottles of Phensedyl/Eskuf Syrup from the house. The two arrested have been identified as Jalil Mia (45) resident of Baramura area and Alamgir Hossain (36) resident of Baspukhur area.
Moreover, the estimated value of the confiscated Phensedyl/Eskuf Syrup in the illicit market amounts to approximately Rs 5 lakh.
However, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has called on Tripura to get rid of drugs. Police are seizing crores worth of heroin, brown sugar and arresting traffickers, but the real kingpins remain out of reach, which is why the state is not moving towards a drug-free state despite so many anti-drug campaigns.
