Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has attended the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s comprehensive review of the ongoing National Highway projects in the North-east region at Guwahati on Monday and stressed for better connectivity between the north east states of the country including Tripura.

Attending the review meeting the Chief Minister Dr. Saha also demanded the Centre for early initiation of 4-lane National Highway project work on Churaibari-Agartala section, which is considered to be the lifeline of the state of Tripura.

He said that recently the Centre has sanctioned 4-lane work on the National Highway of Churaibari-Agartala section, following which work has already been started to convert the Champaknagar-Khayerpur section into 4-lane.

Dr. Saha thanked the Union Minister of Road Transport and National Highways Nitin Gadkari for approving various projects of National Highways for the development of connectivity in various states of North Eastern region including Tripura and said that the length of National Highways in the state has increased from 509 km to 914 km during the last 9 years. The Chief Minister also demanded the Centre to announce 4 more alternate national highways for Tripura to provide alternative connectivity with different districts, sub-divisions, blocks, markets, tourist places and populated areas of the state.
