Minister for youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Education and Labour Tinku Roy on Friday emphasized the need for greater awareness in the field of Ayurveda, adding that the traditional medicine system, like yoga, is a way of life.

“There is a need for larger awareness in Ayurveda; it can’t be limited to doctors only. Our ancestors made good health a part of life but we have started outsourcing the entire health sector. Any teacher, doctor, manufacturers, or researchers of Ayurveda need to think of ways to create better herbal medicines,” Minister for youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Education and Labour Tinku Roy said while speaking in the inaugural ceremony of the State Level 8th National Ayurveda day at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan on Friday.

“Ayurveda is a way of life and if the world can accept yoga, it will also accept Ayurveda. We all need to work together for this filed to progress. I request everyone to accept Ayurveda to bring a good change,” he said.

The theme for Ayurveda day-2023 is ‘Ayurveda for One Health’ with Tag line ‘Ayurveda for everyone on every day’ focusing on human-animal-plant-environment interface.” The term ‘Ayurveda’ means ‘the knowledge of life’ comprises of two Sanskrit words  ‘Ayu’ meaning ‘Life’ and ‘Veda’ meaning ‘Knowledge’ or ‘Science’. Ayurveda with endless potential is a traditional medicinal system that is based on natural elements and works on removing the disease from its root, he added.
