Tripura Police on Friday night arrested three drug peddlers and seized 5 kilograms of cannabis (ganja) worth Rs 1.5 lakh at Ambassa.
The police stated that they stopped a vehicle bearing number BR 11 X 8216 at Ambassa naka checking point. They received the smell of dry cannabis (ganja) inside the vehicle.
During a meticulous search of the vehicle, police officials found 5 kilograms of cannabis (ganja) packed in three packets were kept hidden in secret chambers inside the vehicle, said police.
The three drug peddlers has been identified as Shekhar Kumar Mondal, Jitendra Mondal and Sitaram Mondal all of them residents of Bihar.
Moreover, the estimated value of the confiscated cannabis (ganja) in the illicit market amounts to approximately Rs 1.5 lakh.
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against the arrested drug peddlers.
