Tripura Pradesh Congress on Tuesday paid rich tributes to independent India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary.
President of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Ashish Kumar Saha, Congress MLA of 6 Agartala constituency Sudip Roy Barman along with other senior leaders and members of the Congress’s frontal wings paid floral tributes to the former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s portrait at the Pradesh Congress headquarters in Post Office Chowmuhani area of the capital city.
National Children’s Day has been celebrated on November 14 across the country. The day is marked as Children’s Day to pay homage to Nehru, the country’s first Prime Minister, on his birthday. Nehru was very popular among children. The Prime Minister of the country was known as Chacha among children.
Jawaharlal Nehru was also popular among children for various reasons. Besides loving children, Nehru took various initiatives for them. The Children’s Film Society of India was established in 1955 to emphasize making films exclusively for children.
Until Nehru’s death, Children’s Day was celebrated on November 20. The date was changed after his death. Instead of the 20th, Children’s Day was celebrated on November 14, Nehru’s birthday.
