The Union Home Minister Amit Shah landed here at Agartala and addressed an election rally at Kumarghat in Unakoti district on Monday in support of the BJP candidate for the East Tripura constituency – Kriti Singh Debbarman.
Addressing the rally, the Union HM Amit Shah slammed both the Congress and the CPI(M) in Tripura for depriving the tribals for long. He said, “The Communist Party never paid respect to the Tripura king Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya and kept on depriving the tribals in Tripura deprived during their tenure.”
“It was the PM Modi led government, which paid due respect to the Maharaja and renamed the Agartala airport as Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport,” he said, adding that all issues of the state’s tribal community were taken care of in the “historic agreement” signed with TIPRA Motha party.
He said, “PM Modi has worked to increase the respect of tribals. Congress and Communists continued to rule for years but not even a single tribal son or daughter was made the President of the country. For the first time after 75 years of independence, PM Narendra Modi has done the work of honouring the tribals by making Droupadi Murmu, the President of the country.”
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee, Founder of TIPRA Motha party Pradyot Kishore Deb Burman, IPFT president Prem Kumar Reang and BJP nominee for the Tripura East Lok Sabha seat, Kriti Singh Debbarman were present in the rally.
Shah arrived here at Agartala on Sunday night two days before the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and held a meeting with the party’s senior leaders, including the CM, BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee and Union Minister of State Pratima Bhoumik over the BJP’s preparation for the upcoming elections in two parliamentary seats.
