A programme was organized at Raj Bhavan on Monday to celebrate the foundation day of Himachal Pradesh. Governor of Tripura Indrasena Reddy Nallu inaugurated the programme.
Addressing in the inaugural ceremony Governor of Tripura Indrasena Reddy Nallu hailed the formation of Himachal Pradesh on April 15, 1948, following the amalgamation of 30 princely states. He extolled the state’s distinctive identity, characterized by its rich culture, lofty traditions, and breathtaking natural beauty, dubbing it ‘Devbhoomi’ – the land of Gods.
Himachal Pradesh is a hill state located in western India. It borders Jammu and Kashmir in the north, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh in the west and south-west, Uttarakhand in the south-east and Tibet in the east. If the literal meaning of ‘Himachal Pradesh’ is seen, it means the zone of the snowy mountains. Himachal Pradesh is also known as Dev Bhoomi.
Himachal Day is celebrated on April 15 to remember the day when the state became a part of India after independence. It’s a special day marked as a holiday in Himachal Pradesh. People celebrate by sharing the state’s arts, crafts, food, and traditions. Over time, Himachal Pradesh has become a prosperous state and is famous as the “Apple state of India”.
