The state agriculture minister Ratan Lal Nath on Friday attended the event of ‘Showcasing Tripura at Varanasi’ at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and emphasised on the need to GI certify the unique produce and products to preserve and promote tradition of the state of Tripura.
Addressing the event Ratan Lal Nath said that it was essential for the rest of India and world to recognise the potential of Tripura both in terms of produce and product availability and its geography. The State is promoting innovation, food processing and allied industries and making it tourist friendly and accessible, he added.
He reiterated that the Tripura government is committed to promote local produce, artisans, and the land as such.
The event organised by the North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation (NERAMAC) was organised to promote Tripura as a ‘go-to’ business destination. The event displayed Tripura’s famous GI tagged, organic Tripura Queen Pineapple and a variety of other Agri Horti products alongside its rich Handloom &Handicraft industry, Tourism, Rubber and Bamboo produce.
