In a major setback to Trinamool Congress (TMC) ahead of Lok Sabha polls 2024, Tripura Pradesh Trinamool Congress president Pijush Kanti Biswas on Tuesday tendered his resignation citing personal problems.

“I do hereby tender my resignation from the post of President, Tripura Pradesh Trinamool Congress Committee and its primary membership. Kindly accept the same,” read the letter signed by Biswas addressed to All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC) chief Mamata Banerjee.

He also expressed his gratitude to the party supremo and general secretary Abhishek Banerjee for appointing him as party president.

He said that he was not being able to give time for party work for the last few months due to some of my personal problems. So it is not well to occupy the post of Tripura Pradesh Trinamool Congress president without working for the party, he added.
