The state tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Wednesday said that the government is working to enhance the economy of the state through the tourism industry.
“Government has given special importance to the infrastructural development of tourist destinations in the state to explore the potentiality of growing the state’s economy,” he said while speaking to reporters during the heritage walk organized to celebrate the World Tourism Day 2023 at Ujjayanta Palace premises on Wednesday.
The Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Ltd has taken various initiatives to put the state on the world tourism map. Tourism has a special role in the economic development of the state. He said that tourism is an industry where friendships are made. Government wants to develop people as tourism lovers. Various programs have been organized in the state for the last two days on the occasion of World Tourism Day, he added.
The tourism minister said that the infrastructure of tourism in the state is not where it was in the past. The tourist areas have become very developed and attractive. The government aims to make the tourism industry of the state more developed and attractive in the coming days.
The heritage walk started from Ujjayanta Palace premises and ended in-front of Heritage Park.
Secretary of Tourism Department Uttam Kumar Chakma, Director of Tourism Department Tapan Kumar Das, Joint Director of Tourism Department Aniruddha Roy and others were also present.
