In yet another anti-narcotics drive, Tripura Police seized a hefty amount of contraband items from a house Jangalia area under Bishalgarh Police Station on Sunday night. The contraband items which were seized are Phensedyl, Eskuf Syrup and Pills (commonly used for drug addiction).
The police stated that they received a crucial tip-off, on the basis of the tip-off police personnel Bishalgarh police station raided the house of Maman Mia in Jangalia area. During the raid police officials found hundreds of bottles of Phensedyl, Eskuf Syrup and Pills from the house. Maman Mia was found absconding. A hunt is on to arrest the accused Maman Mia, said cops.
Moreover, the estimated value of the confiscated Phensedyl, Eskuf Syrup and Pills in the illicit market amounts to approximately Rs 10 lakh.
A specific case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in this regard.
However, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has called on Tripura to get rid of drugs. Police are seizing crores worth of heroin, brown sugar and arresting traffickers, but the real kingpins remain out of reach, which is why the state is not moving towards a drug-free state despite so many anti-drug campaigns.
