The Tripura police administration has adopted strict security measures in the West district, the largest district in the state, to ensure peaceful Kali Puja starting Sunday.
This year, around 295 Kali Puja pandals have been set up in Tripura West district, of which 207 are in the Urban and 88 are in rural areas, said SP, West Tripura Dr. Kiran Kumar K while briefing the media persons at Police headquarter on Saturday.
A total of 170 Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel would be deployed, in addition to deployment of 250 state police and Central Reserve Police Force of India (CRPF) in different parts of the district, said SP, West Tripura Dr. Kiran Kumar K.
We have also kept fire tenders and Ambulances on stand-by. We shall keep on checking vehicles at naka points, he added.
Police are also keeping a watch on shops, markets, shopping malls and cinema halls spread across the city. The police have installed drop gates at all significant roads to prevent entry of vehicles in crowded areas during peak hours.
