Crowds throng jewellery shops in Agartala on Dhanteras
Most of the jewellery shops in Agartala witnessed heavy crowds on the occasion of Dhanteras on Saturday. People visited their nearby jewellery shops to purchase gold, silver, diamond, gemstones and other jewellery items. Jewellery shop owners said the response is very warm this year and the day’s business may surpass that of the 2022 Dhanteras. People believe that purchasing gold on Dhanteras is auspicious, that’s why they visited jewellery shops to purchase gold and other jewellery items on Saturday.
“We are having brisk sales and buyers are queuing up to purchase jewellery and believe me the average ticket sales (average sale per person) have gone up drastically and people are buying”, said a Jewellery shop owner.
One of the buyers Ramu Saha, who was out to do some gold purchasing on Dhanteras said, “Yes, the prices have gone high but people are managing by adjusting their budget. The average basket size may be small but the volume is large and people are buying.
