Tripura celebrated the International Human Rights Day on Sunday at Rabinda Shata Barshiki Bhawan. Tripura Human Rights Commission (THRC) organized the programme.
Governor of Tripura Indra Sena Reddy Nallu inaugurated the programme. Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, Tripura Women’s Commission Chairperson Jharna Debbarma, Chancellor of Tripura Central University Dr. Gangaprasad Prasad and others were present.
The theme of this year’s International Human Rights Day celebration is ‘Consolidating and Sustaining the Culture of Human Rights in the Future’.
Every year Human Rights day is celebrated across the globe on 10th December. This is to remember and honour the UN General Assembly that adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in 1948.Number of government and non- government organizations do celebrate this day with great importance by conducting special events.
Human rights is one amongst the fundamental rights of human being. Human rights is common for people regardless of their religion/culture/language/communal difference etc. It’s a fact that in present century they are now a matter of international and multinational concern. This day is meant to resolve and promote social progress and enhance better lifestyle of every individual. Human rights safeguards one’s interest, as one should have liability to have human rights being a human being. Human rights helps people to realize their role in various dimension.
