Police seizes ganja worth Rs 6 lakh
Tripura police seized 60 kilograms of cannabis (ganja) worth Rs 6 lakh at Ambassa Naka checking point on Monday.
The police stated that they asked a vehicle bearing number ASO3 Y 5007 at Ambassa Naka checking point to stop but the driver of the vehicle disobeyed the police order and fled away leaving the vehicle.
During a meticulous search of the vehicle, police officials found 60 kilograms of cannabis (ganja) packed in 57 packets. The cannabis (ganja) worth Rs 6 lakh was concealed in secret compartments inside the vehicle. The seized cannabis (ganja) was intended for smuggling purposes beyond Tripura’s borders, police said.
A specific case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 has been registered in this regard and a hunt is on to arrest the absconding driver of the vehicle, said cops.
